Brazilian Blowout - Week 8

December 8th, 2009

Our model had just had her color touched up and this photo was taken directly after.  Brazilian Blowout is still holding strong at week number eight with no frizz.  You can start to see a little bit of the curl starting to kick back up.  Be sure to compare to the prior photos (especially the ones of the hair wet) to get a true comparison.

Brazilian Blowout - Week 5

This photo was taken after the model had shampooed her hair the day before, used no products and it had been pulled back briefly.  You can see there is still no frizz and her curl is still diminished greatly.

Brazilian Blowout - Three Weeks

October 30th, 2009

This photo was taken three weeks after the initial service.  She came in with no products in her hair and had let it dry naturally.  Our model’s hair is very thick and even after an hour and a half it still wasn’t quite dry.

Brazilian Blowout - Day 10

October 20th, 2009

Just as we said in the previous blog, we intend to keep a diary of our model to show you the long-lasting results of the Brazilian Blowout Treatment.  We are showing her hair wet ten days after her treatment so you can compare it to the “before” photo of her hair (which is also wet).  As you can see, our model has significantly less curl and virtually no frizziness.

Brazilian Blowout Keratin Smoothing Treatment

October 7th, 2009

As with any new product or service we decide to offer, there is a tremendous amount of research and testing that goes into the decision.  It was certainly no different when it came to choosing a keratin smoothing treatment. We decided on Brazilian Blowout because it offers so many options for our clients.

Before Brazilian Blowout

Before Brazilian Blowout

First, and most importantly, it contains no chemicals.  A lot of the earlier versions of this treatment contained formaldehyde or a derivative of formaldehyde.  Not good!!

We also wanted a product that allowed the client to shampoo their hair right away.  Others did not work properly unless you went three full days with the product still in the hair.  For those of you who have done it…you know those are three very long days.  The nice thing about Brazilian Blowout is you have the option of not shampooing for up to three days if you want.  The longer you go, the better your results will be.

Finally, we didn’t want our clients to have to be sitting in the salon all day getting this service done.  Brazilian Blowout takes no longer than two hours.

The blog photos are a before and after the treatment we have done in the salon.  The before was taken wet (double click the pic to enlarge); right after we did the shampoo before the treatment.  The after was blown dry with a paddle brush using no flat iron.  We will keep you updated with the week by week progress of her treatment.

The Lowdown on the Rubdown - The basics of receiving a massage.

August 4th, 2009

Many people have never had a massage simply because the are unsure of the process and what they need to do to get the most from the massage experience.  The following tips should help answer many of the questions you may have about your part in the massage procedure:

  • First Massage - Be sure to let your therapist know it’s your first time so they can better assist you with how they do things.  They should tell you where to put your clothes and how they want you to lay on the bed to start the massage. If they don’t, ask.
  • Get Undressed - Keep in mind that the less you have between the therapist’s hands and your body the more fluid and thorough the massage will be.  All therapists are taught the art of keeping all private parts of the body covered while exposing the parts that need massaging.  With that in mind, you should undress to the level of your comfort.
  • Share Your Needs - If you know that you will need more massage on your neck and shoulders than the rest of your body be sure to express this to the therapist.  You are paying for the time allowed for the massage.  However, keep in mind that their will be less time devoted to the rest of your body.
  • Relax! - Absolutely do not feel the need to talk during the massage. It is your time to completely relax and unwind.   A good therapist will take the cue from you. If you don’t start a conversation then they shouldn’t either.
  • Wake Up - The massage therapist will let you know when they are finished and they are leaving the room.  Take a couple of minutes to regroup; gather your thoughts and redress.  Don’t rush but, at the same time, don’t dawdle as there may be another appointment scheduled after yours.
That’s basically it.  Each spa may vary slightly in their procedure.  The receptionist is usually well aware of the practices of their facility so you can always call ahead to familiarize yourself.

Enjoy Your Holiday Gift Certificates

December 27th, 2008

We are very excited for the lucky recipients of our gift cards.  The nice thing about Studio 33 Salon and Spa gift cards is that they never expire or decrease in value.  However, that doesn’t mean we want you to put them to the side and forget that you have them.  We encourage you to treat yourself during the longer months of winter (at least that’s how it seems) and create a bright spot on an otherwise dreary day.
